What is a “SmEGOT”?
A SmEGOT is the highest honor a Smosh Guest can achieve. This title is granted when an individual appears on all five of the main Smosh channels: Smosh, Smosh Pit, Smosh Games, SmoshCast, and Smosh Alike. Only a select few have ever earned this distinction, and it has become a celebrated achievement within the Smosh community. The term “SmEGOT” is a playful nod to the prestigious EGOT status in the entertainment industry, which recognizes individuals who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award.
Okay... now what about this website?
SMEGOT.com takes its name from that honor, and aims to be a companion for finding Smosh videos effectively. It's a search engine for Every Smosh Video Ever, essentially., with filters for series, cast members, and more. There are definitely some gaps, but I'm aiming to reduce them. The best way to contribute would be to update the Smosh Wiki itself, which is the source of our metadata (used with Fandom's permission and shared under CC BY-SA 3.0, the wiki's license). I'm trying my best to keep the site up to date. My main focus is to create the best experience for users to find and share Smosh content. Features like the “I'm Feeling Smoshy” button and random search should encourage this, promoting videos you might not have found otherwise. I found the Smosh Plays Switch Sports series through my own search lol, and I was thrilled since I hadn't seen it before. And if SMEGOT is missing a specific video or captioning, check out SmoshFinder, a fellow fan project that also provides a cross-channel search engine. SmoshFinder is a really cool project, so you should also support its creator.
About the Developer
My name is hilovids, and I've been following Smosh since their start on YouTube in 2005. They're almost exclusively what I watch on YouTube, and I've wanted a way to find my favorite videos more easily. SMEGOT is a solo project, and I hope you enjoy it! If you want to support me in any way, I use an Amazon affiliate link to offset hosting costs, but you can also support me through the various Ko-fi links on the site. I've also been inspired by Smosh for other related projects, like my digital Dread alternative: DREAD FLIP. There's also a set of free daily games built from the video index: a character guesser, a grouping puzzle, a quote game, and an emoji game. Scores and streaks stay in your browser, like everything else here.
